About Manoj Kumar
Doing a lot of stuff at the same time! 9-5 job in technology management, indie-hacking on the side, indie-author on another side, studying in a bootcamp to be a full-stack developer, drawing a bit every day, and it's been a while since I did podcasting and vlogging! As I get more and more curious, I have begun to love studying as well.

Higher Education
Feb-1994 to Feb-1998 Completed
Bachelor of Science
Macquarie University
Sydney, Australia
This was my first university study, and studying away from home. It was daunting and exciting. There was plenty to study, and the assignments were the worst part. The most memorable part of my study was the friends from across the world, gorging on junk food found on campus, and my part-time job! Upon graduation, I didn't pursue a life in the course I studied, unfortunately. But I have an undergraduate degree to my name, and that matters on your first set of jobs!

Affinity Publisher
Affinity Revolution
Online
It was a fantastic course that helped me learn the use of Affinity Publisher, a graphic design software like Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator. By the end of all the online modules, I could create brochures, posters and even a book! This helped me in my indie-author venture, where I am doing the full layout of my books and designing the cover too!

Python Programming: Beginner to Expert
Udemy
Online
This was a personal summer vacation study initiative. What a way to spend an Australian summer! :) I had been studying Python already as a part of my bootcamp coding course but I wanted something extra to supplement it. In this Udemy course, the teacher goes to great lengths to teach Python, covering a massive 22 sections. I could only finish 10 sections before my holidays ran out, and I was back to work and the bootCamp course.

Front-End Web Developer (No Code)
EntryLevel Pty Ltd
Online
A 6-week boot camp where I learned how to build a complicated website using WebFlow. It was tough because it was my first foray into the "wonderful" world of coding & web development. Previously, I had played around with WordPress, Squarespace, Carrd, Shopify etc. But this was a beast!

Cartoon Drawing Course for Beginners
Sydney Community College
Rozelle, Australia
I love cartoon-styled drawing and this was one of the first 1:1 classes I enrolled in. It ran for 6 sessions in the evenings, and I would rush here after my 9-5 work. There were about 10 students in the class, and we practised all sorts of drawing techniques, especially drawing for comics. The course isn't long enough to make you a perfect cartoonist but it gives you the taste and the teacher (Luke Marcatili) was fantastic.
Feb-2022 to Nov-2022 Completed
Project and Program Management
University of Sydney
Sydney, Australia
I studied 2 units here: Project Leadership & Communications, Project Planning and Governance. At my full-time work, I've been having to work on a few projects, and I figured a course could help me get to speed. I enjoyed my time here but I didn't find the content very theoretical and research-based. I wanted more action, real-life stuff! Passed with high distinction by the way!

How to Draw Faces - Cartooning for People Who Can't Draw!
Udemy
Online
All my life, I have wanted to be a cartoonist but never pursued it. This course was my first on Udemy, but I never completed the course. Distractions & procrastination! It's a very interesting course though - learn to draw different types of heads! The teacher teaches you how to draw 20 unique cartoon drawings using simple shapes!
Aug-2011 to Aug-2011 Completed
Digital Cadet
Digital Training Academy
Sydney, Australia
This course helped me change my career path from International Business to digital advertising & ad operations in the international education industry. The 3-week course equipped me with Google SEO, Social media marketing and other internet fundamentals. As soon as I finished the course, they got me an interview with a broadcaster, which I secured. Since then, for the last 13 years, I've been in the advertising technology field.

Young Achievement Australia (YAA)
University of New South Wales (UNSW)
Sydney, Australia
YAA is a not-for-profit organisation that provides business enterprise education to students, giving them employability skills like teamwork, communication and management experience. We had to operate a company for a year and then wind it all up. I was given the position of Marketing Director, and we won almost all of the awards given by the organisation.
